Chief Executive of the People Mutuals, DHAN Foundation (India)
Since January 2019, Ahila Devi has served as the Chief Executive of People Mutuals, the microinsurance initiative of DHAN Foundation. She is responsible for the collaboration with insurance companies to provide life, health, livestock and crop coverage, protecting over 1.5 million lives; as well as the implementation of mutual insurance programmes in the DHAN collective, protecting 0.35 million lives.
Prior to her current role, she spent 10 years (2009 to 2019) as a Team Leader deputed as Regional Coordinator for the DHAN Foundation. She was responsidble for anchoring the ‘Implementation of Kalanjiam Community Banking Program” in Madurai District involving 15,000 poor women families. Between 2002 and 2009, Ahila was Managing Director of a SHG Federation, guiding and training the field teams on micro finance and SHG (self-help-group) concept.
Ahila has a B.Sc(Ag) and M.Sc(Ag) in Agricultural Science from the Agricultural College and Research Institute, Tamilnadu Agricultural University. She was also a Senior Research Fellow at the Agricultural College and Research Institute from 2000 to 2001.
