President and Chief Executive Officer, Thrivent (USA)
Teresa (Terry) Rasmussen serves as President and CEO of Thrivent, a diversified financial services organization. Founded in 1902 as a fraternal benefit society, Thrivent’s mission is to help Christians be wise with money, so they can live more content, confident and generous lives.
Rasmussen is also a member of the Thrivent Board of Directors. Prior to her current role, she was president of Thrivent’s fraternal business after serving as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary.
Before joining Thrivent in 2005, Rasmussen served in progressively responsible legal positions with American Express and Ameriprise Financial. She began her legal career in 1984 as part of the U.S. Attorney General’s Honors Program.
Rasmussen serves on the boards of the Walker Art Center and American Council of Life Insurers Steering Committee on Consumer Issues. She also serves on the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation Board and Executive Committee. She is past chair of the American Fraternal Alliance and Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota.
She received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Minnesota State University–Moorhead. After passing the CPA exam, Rasmussen earned her Juris Doctor from the University of North Dakota. She and her husband live in Minnesota and they have two adult children.
